A view from my outside altar

Prerna Uppal.

There is this place I go to often, especially when my mind-heart is aflutter, the anxiety-shaped sunbird flapping its wings in a desperate bid to escape this mortal rib cage. I commune with a particular tree friend who grounds me, advises me and holds me. A tuning fork for the soul. But that’s not my altar. My outdoors altar is a little alcove of trees and shrubs under whose canopy I sat and took this picture.

The last time I visited, I offered some wildflower seeds as a gift; a few weeks later, this is the view, a riot of green, that welcomed me!

Amongst the nettles and co are my wild-flower offerings growing unbidden, unapologetically untamed and proud!

  1. I love that you planted wildflowers among the nettles. Such a moody sky. Recently I find myself looking up at open sky whenever I can, it seems to offer some sort of respite
